MOHALI: An FIR has been registered at the State Cyber Crime Police Station in Mohali for allegedly creating and circulating a fake video of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The videos were shared on social media through an account identified as belonging to Jagman Samra.
According to the police, the videos appear to have been created using artificial intelligence (AI) with the intent to spread hatred. The account holder, Jagman Samra, claimed to live in British Columbia and to have studied in Sangrur. He shared two posts, writing, “This is the trailer. There are many such videos. Whoever proves them with AI will be rewarded.”
Police said the first post was uploaded around 2 a.m. on Monday (October 20), followed by another post at 7 a.m. on Tuesday. Investigators believe the videos were made viral from abroad.
In another post, Samra wrote that the women seen in the video were Russians and that the footage was shot at a hotel on Sun & Sand Bombay Beach, where the Chief Minister had gone for a meeting with businessmen and industrialists.
He also claimed that viral videos of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal were from 2022–23, adding, “I will personally give a cash reward of Rs 5 crore to anyone who proves that they are real.”
Police have launched a detailed investigation into the source and authenticity of the videos.
