Five, including four Al Jazeera journalists, killed in Israeli airstrike in Gaza

Gaza City: Five people, including four Al Jazeera journalists, were killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza, according to Gaza officials and the news network.

The journalists killed were identified as Anas al-Sharif, Mohammad Karikeh, Ibrahim Zahar and Mohammad Noufal. An assistant working with them also died in the attack.

Al Jazeera said the group was targeted while in a tent near Shifa Hospital in eastern Gaza City. The Israeli military claimed al-Sharif, 28, was the leader of a Hamas cell and confirmed killing an Al Jazeera journalist in Sunday’s attack.

Human rights activists, however, alleged that Sharif had been targeted for his reporting on the Gaza war, dismissing Israel’s claims as baseless.
