Former J&K Governor Satya Pal Malik passes away at 77 in Delhi

New Delhi: Former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik passed away on Tuesday at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Delhi after a prolonged illness.

He was 77. According to hospital officials, Malik breathed his last at 1:20 pm. He had been suffering from a kidney-related ailment and was admitted to the hospital on May 11 after his condition deteriorated.

Malik served as the Governor of several states, including Jammu and Kashmir, Goa, and Meghalaya. His tenure as the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, from August 23, 2018, to October 30, 2019, was particularly significant.

It was during this period that the central government abrogated Article 370 on August 5, 2019, revoking the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.

He remained a vocal figure even after his tenure, often in the headlines for his outspoken views on various political issues.
