Former police inspector allegedly beats elderly Amritdhari man in Jalandhar village

Jalandhar: A shocking incident came to light at Kathar Chowk in Kanpur village under Adampur police station, where an elderly Amritdhari man was allegedly assaulted by a former police inspector.

Jagdev Singh, a resident of Badala Mahi village in Hoshiarpur, lodged a complaint with the police. He told authorities that around 2 pm on the previous day, after arriving in Jalandhar by bus, he was standing at Kathar Chowk when he signaled a scooter driver for a lift. According to Jagdev Singh, the driver suddenly pushed him to the ground, removed his turban, grabbed his hair, and beat him before fleeing the scene.

The assault was reportedly captured on a nearby CCTV camera. Jagdev Singh, accompanied by family members and local villagers, submitted a written complaint at Adampur police station.

Police station in-charge Ravinder Pal Singh said an investigation has been initiated and assured that strict action would be taken against the accused. Reports indicate that the alleged attacker had retired from his position as a police inspector at Bullowal police station in Hoshiarpur about two years ago.

Villagers and family members have warned that they will launch a large-scale protest with the Sikh Jathebandi if timely action is not taken by authorities.
