Four Himachal police personnel suspended for buying liquor during CM’s official visit in Chandigarh

Chandigarh: Four police personnel, including a sub-inspector, have been suspended in Himachal Pradesh after a video showing them purchasing liquor and placing it in a government vehicle went viral on social media.

Police sources said a preliminary investigation confirmed the authenticity of the video, prompting swift disciplinary action. A departmental inquiry has also been initiated.

According to reports, the suspended personnel were part of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s security detail. They had accompanied the Chief Minister to Chandigarh on Friday. After the Chief Minister left for Delhi, the police team began their return journey to Himachal Pradesh.

On the way, the personnel stopped at a liquor outlet in Chandigarh, where they were seen in uniform buying liquor. In the over two-minute video that surfaced online, an employee of the liquor store is seen loading boxes into a black Scorpio government vehicle under the instructions of the police personnel.

The clip was widely circulated on social media and quickly caught the attention of senior police officials, who responded by suspending the involved personnel.
