New Delhi: At least four people were killed when around 20 vehicles collided on the Mumbai-Delhi Expressway due to dense fog around 5 am on Monday. Reports suggest that 15 to 20 people were seriously injured though officials have not yet confirmed the exact number.
Police said emergency response teams including fire services and ambulances were rushed to the spot to rescue passengers trapped inside the vehicles and provide medical assistance. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Traffic on the affected stretch of the expressway remained disrupted for several hours following the collision. The damaged vehicles were later removed and traffic was resumed.
Officials have urged motorists to exercise caution while driving as dense fog continues to reduce visibility on highways.
