Free minibuses to operate in three holy cities, CM Mann announces

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday announced that free minibuses, autos and rickshaws will soon operate in three designated holy cities — Amritsar (Walled City), Talwandi Sabo and Sri Anandpur Sahib.

Speaking at the 350th martyrdom anniversary event of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji in Sri Anandpur Sahib, CM Mann said a world-class university will also be established in the name of Guru Tegh Bahadur. He added that the syllabus of the proposed institution will be designed after taking inputs from the public.

CM Mann further announced that a new heritage street will be developed in Sri Anandpur Sahib to showcase the city’s cultural and historical significance with modern amenities. He said that Charan Ganga Stadium will be upgraded with advanced facilities and government-run shops in the city will be redesigned to maintain a uniform look.

Referring to the supreme sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, Mann said that such martyrdom is unparalleled in history.

Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, MP Malvinder Singh Kang, Tourism Minister Tarunpreet Singh and Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains were also present at the event and addressed the gathering.
