New Delhi: Union Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu on Sunday said that a CBI probe will be recommended into the death of Punjab Warehousing Corporation district manager Gagandeep Singh Randhawa.
During a visit to Amritsar, Bittu met the bereaved family and assured them that justice would be delivered. Randhawa had allegedly died by suicide after consuming a poisonous substance, reportedly distressed over alleged humiliation by former minister Laljit Singh Bhullar.
Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had also stated that a CBI inquiry could be ordered if all MPs from Punjab submit a written request. The issue was raised by Amritsar MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla, who alleged that pressure from the minister led the officer to take the extreme step.
A video had also surfaced on social media in which the officer reportedly held Bhullar responsible for his death.
Bittu said that while police have arrested Bhullar, his father and another suspect, Dilbagh Singh, are still absconding. He questioned the police’s handling of the case, alleging deliberate delay in arresting the remaining accused.
