NEW DELHI: Gold and silver prices surged sharply on Tuesday ahead of Dhanteras and the upcoming festive season. Gold prices jumped by ₹2,850 to ₹1.3 lakh per 10 grams in the national capital, while silver climbed by ₹6,000 to a lifetime high of ₹1,85,000 per kg (inclusive of all taxes).
According to the All India Sarafa Association, gold of 99.9 per cent purity rose to ₹1,30,800 per 10 grams from ₹1,27,950 in the previous trading session.
Silver, which was priced at ₹1,79,000 per kg in the last session, registered its fifth consecutive day of gains.
Traders attributed the surge to strong festive demand and firm global cues ahead of Dhanteras.
