Harbhajan Singh appeals to PM Modi, NDRF for urgent aid as Punjab reels under floods

New Delhi: Former Indian cricketer and Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh has shared an emotional post in support of flood-hit Punjab, saying the state is going through one of its most difficult times. He said hundreds of villages are submerged, thousands of farmers have lost their crops, and common people are in distress.

Calling Punjab the “granary of the country,” Harbhajan stressed that central government support is crucial. He appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to intensify relief operations in the affected areas.

“The army and NDRF must carry out rescue work with more force. People need food, medicines and shelter, while farmers should be given financial and agricultural aid to rebuild their lives,” Harbhajan said.

He added that standing with Punjab is vital not just for the state, but also for the food security of the entire country. “This is not about politics but a larger mission to save lives and safeguard agriculture,” he said.

His appeal has gone viral on social media, with many users supporting his demand and urging the Centre to announce a relief package immediately.
