Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Electoral Officer A Srinivas has sent a notice to Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, seeking a reply within 10 days regarding his recent press conference.
The State Election Commission has asked Rahul Gandhi to provide documents and signed statements related to his allegations of discrepancies in the voter list.
On August 7, Rahul Gandhi accused the Election Commission of manipulating the voter list ahead of the 2024 assembly elections. He said, “The Congress lost the entire state by just 22,779 votes in 8 seats.”
Rahul Gandhi further claimed that the number of voters in one Haryana assembly constituency increased by one lakh, adding, “In one assembly itself, 12 to 15% votes increased and this vote is more important when the margin of victory and defeat in the election is between 2 to 4% votes.”
The Election Commission’s notice demands detailed evidence supporting these claims.
