CHANDIGARH: The death of IPS officer Y Puran Singh has shaken Haryana’s administrative structure, turning the case into a confrontation between system and sensibility, power and truth.
In a major late-night development on Tuesday, the state government sent Director General of Police (DGP) Shatrujit Kapoor on leave amid the ongoing probe into the officer’s alleged suicide.
Earlier, Rohtak SP Narendra Bijrania had already been removed from his post in connection with the case.
Following Kapoor’s removal, IPS officer Om Prakash Singh, a 1992-batch officer currently serving as Managing Director of the Haryana Police Housing Corporation, has been given the additional charge of DGP.
The state government’s move comes as public pressure continues to mount for a transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of the IPS officer.
