Chandigarh: Haryana Minister of State for Sports Gaurav Gautam said it was a matter of pride that the state’s players were bringing glory to the country by winning medals in competitions like the Olympics, World Championships, Asian Games and Commonwealth Games.
He said the state government was making continuous efforts to provide sports facilities and cash awards to encourage players.
Responding to the demand for cash rewards by players who won medals at the 4th Para Asian Games 2023, the government has released Rs 19.72 crore to 13 players and Rs 12 crore to four players from different districts.
The state offers a cash award of Rs 3 crore for a gold medal, Rs 1.5 crore for a silver, and Rs 75 lakh for a bronze.
Gautam said people with a healthy body and mind play an important role in the progress of the state and the country. He added that Haryana’s sports policy was helping players achieve consistent success, with other states now following the model.
