Chandigarh: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has arrested Jagseer Singh, alias Kala alias Baz, a resident of Sirsa, Haryana, in connection with a 2016 opium smuggling case. Singh had been declared a fugitive in a case involving 36.150 kg of opium and had been evading arrest for nearly a decade.
According to officials, Singh had reinvented himself as a singer during his time on the run and gained popularity on social media platforms such as YouTube and Instagram. He was also seen appearing alongside several Punjabi singers.
In May 2025, the NCB had released his details in leading newspapers and announced a reward of ₹50,000 for information leading to his arrest. Based on credible inputs, the Chandigarh unit of the NCB successfully apprehended him.
Officials said the arrest marks a significant breakthrough and further interrogation is expected to reveal more about the narcotics network. The NCB is now investigating how many more individuals may be involved in the case.
