Chandigarh: The Special Task Force (STF) of Haryana Police has arrested gangster Lakhwinder Singh, alias Lakha, a close associate of Lawrence Bishnoi, after his deportation from the United States.
Lakha, a resident of Titram village in Kaithal district, had been operating from the US since 2022 under the direction of Anmol Bishnoi, police said. He was allegedly involved in nearly a dozen extortion and firing cases linked to organised crime in Haryana and Punjab.
Officials said that several FIRs were registered against him in Sonipat, Rohtak, Yamunanagar, Kaithal and Ambala in 2023 for extortion and issuing threats. The STF had issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) in 2023 and a Red Corner Notice (RCN) in 2024 to trace him.
After nearly a year of coordination with national and international agencies, the STF Ambala unit completed all legal formalities and executed his deportation, leading to his arrest.
A spokesperson of Haryana Police said that the STF remains committed to dismantling organised crime networks and is working to identify and deport other wanted criminals operating from abroad.
Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) OP Singh on Sunday described Lakhwinder’s deportation as a major achievement in the state’s fight against organised crime.
“Another coward, fugitive, and traitor has been pulled from the US by the Haryana Police. He was wanted in several extortion and firing cases across states,” DGP Singh said in a post.
