Solan: A Solan court on Saturday remanded state BJP president Dr S K Singh’s elder brother, Ram Kumar Bindal, to five days of police custody, a day after he was arrested for allegedly raping a 25-year-old woman.
The 81-year-old accused, who is a practising lawyer, was arrested on Friday evening and taken for a medical examination. He reportedly complained of chest pain and was subsequently admitted to a hospital.
The court directed that the police may interrogate the accused in the presence of a medical officer due to his health condition.
According to police, the woman lodged a complaint at the Solan Mahila police station on October 8, alleging that Bindal had raped her on the pretext of providing treatment.
The Himachal Pradesh State Commission for Women has taken cognizance of the case and sought a report from Solan SP Gaurav Singh.
