Husband and wife die by suicide in Barnala, blame neighbour in note and video

Chandigarh: In a tragic incident in Punjab’s Barnala district, a husband and wife died by suicide after allegedly consuming sulfas. The deceased have been identified as Nirmal Singh Nimma (50) and Ramandeep Kaur (45), residents of Mahita village.

According to police, the couple’s bodies were found inside a room of their house on Thursday morning. Before taking the extreme step, Nirmal Singh reportedly wrote a suicide note on the wall and recorded a video that he shared on social media, blaming his neighbour and the neighbour’s family for their deaths.

In the suicide note, Nirmal alleged that the neighbour’s son, Preet, had been in an illicit relationship with his wife for the past six months and was blackmailing them by threatening to make pornographic videos and photos public. He claimed that despite repeated attempts to resolve the matter, the harassment continued, leaving the couple mentally distressed.

The note further said that their only son’s life had also been affected by the situation and appealed for justice.

Villagers and family members informed the police after discovering the incident. Police reached the spot and have begun an investigation. The family has demanded strict action against the accused.
