Dubai: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has reinstated Andy Pycroft as the match referee for the high-voltage Asia Cup Super 4 clash between India and Pakistan on Sunday, despite repeated requests from Pakistan to drop him.
Sources said Pycroft will officiate the match, while the complete list of officials is yet to be made public. The second match referee in the tournament is former West Indies captain Richie Richardson.
A few days ago, Pycroft served as referee in another India-Pakistan fixture, during which the Indian team did not shake hands with Pakistan players.
Following the incident, the Pakistan team emailed the ICC twice — first asking for Pycroft’s removal from the tournament and later requesting he be excluded from their matches. Both appeals were turned down by the ICC.
