New Delhi: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has rejected the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) request to remove Zimbabwe’s Andy Pycroft from the panel of umpires for the ongoing Asia Cup T20 tournament in Dubai.
The PCB had complained that Pycroft allegedly asked Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha not to shake hands with Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav during the toss in the India-Pakistan match on Sunday.
“Late last night, the ICC sent a reply to the PCB stating that Pycroft will not be removed and his application has been rejected,” an ICC source told PTI.
Pycroft, one of the most senior match referees in the ICC Elite Panel with experience in 695 international matches across formats, is scheduled to officiate in Pakistan’s final group-stage match against the UAE on Wednesday.
