Chandigarh: Income Tax teams on Monday carried out searches at multiple premises linked to senior Congress leader and entrepreneur Raminder Singh Awla. Officials said raids were conducted at around 12 locations including his residence in Guruharsahai.
Sources said the teams reached Guruharsahai at around 6 am and the searches were still underway. Officials are seeking details related to business activities and income.
Raminder Singh Awla was not present at the residence at the time of the raid and his relatives are being questioned.
Raminder Singh had won the Jalalabad Assembly seat in the 2019 by-election after it fell vacant when Sukhbir Singh Badal was elected to the Lok Sabha. However, he lost the seat in the 2022 Assembly elections.
