India announce squad for Asia Cup T20, Suryakumar Yadav to lead

New Delhi: The Indian squad for the Asia Cup T20, to be held in Dubai next month, was announced on Tuesday. Suryakumar Yadav will continue as captain, while opener Shubman Gill has been named vice-captain.

Fast bowlers Rinku Singh and Jaspreet Bumrah, along with spinner Kuldeep Yadav, have secured spots in the team. However, left-handed batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal has not been included. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar said Jaiswal would have to wait a little longer for opportunities in this format.

Reacting to the selection, captain Suryakumar Yadav said the presence of several talented players in the squad makes his role easier.

The Asia Cup begins on September 9, with India set to play their opening match against the UAE on September 10. The much-anticipated clash between India and Pakistan will take place on September 14.

Indian squad for Asia Cup T20:

Suryakumar Yadav (captain), Shubman Gill (vice-captain), Abhishek Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Jaspreet Bumrah, Jitesh Sharma, Shivam Dube, Arshdeep Singh, Sanju Samson, Harshit Rana, Tilak Verma, Rinku Singh, Varun Chakravarthy.
