New Delhi: The Indian Postal Department has announced suspension of booking for most postal goods to the United States starting August 25. Officials said the move will be temporary.
A press note issued on August 23 informed that from August 29, all international postal consignments to the US will attract customs duty under the country-specific International Emergency Economic Power Act (IEEPA) tariff structure, regardless of their value.
Gift items priced up to $100 (around ₹8,700) will continue to be exempt from duty. Previously, goods worth up to $800 (around ₹70,000) were allowed duty-free entry.
