India rejects China’s remarks on detention of Arunachal Pradesh woman at Shanghai airport

New Delhi: India has firmly rejected China’s comments on the detention of an Indian woman from Arunachal Pradesh at Shanghai International Airport, reiterating that the border state is an integral part of the country.

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the woman, a resident of Arunachal Pradesh, was travelling with a valid Indian passport and was in transit to Japan when she was detained by Chinese authorities.

“We have seen the statements made by the Chinese Foreign Ministry regarding the arbitrary detention of an Indian national from Arunachal Pradesh. This Indian woman had a valid passport and was passing through the Shanghai International Airport on her next trip to Japan,” Jaiswal said.

He added that Arunachal Pradesh has always been, and will continue to be, an inseparable part of India.

“China may deny it a million times, but Arunachal Pradesh will always remain a part of India and his statement will not change this undisputed reality,” he said.
