KOLKATA: India took a narrow 30-run lead over South Africa in the first Test at Eden Gardens Stadium, Kolkata. After being reduced to 189 all out in their first innings, the Indian team managed to edge ahead of South Africa’s 159.
In reply, South Africa reached 25 for 2 in their second innings, with Wiaan Mulder and Temba Bavuma at the crease. Aiden Markram was dismissed for 4 runs.
India’s innings saw skipper Shubman Gill retire early due to neck cramps and not return to bat. KL Rahul was the top scorer with 39 runs.
For South Africa, Simon Harmer claimed 4 wickets, Marco Jansen took 3, while Keshav Maharaj and Corbin Bosch picked up 1 wicket each.
