New Delhi: Ahead of the Women’s ODI World Cup final on Sunday, Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur said the team was full of enthusiasm. She recalled the grief of losing in the 2005 and 2017 finals and said the players now want to taste victory.
India, a two-time runner-up, will take the field at DY Patil Stadium on Sunday. Whichever team wins will claim the World Cup title for the first time.
Harmanpreet added, “When you are on a stage like the World Cup final, there is no bigger motivation than that. The whole team is ready and supporting each other. Everyone is praying for each other. It shows how prepared we are for this match.”
She said the team had been preparing for this moment for the past two years, focusing on the World Cup being held in India and on local conditions. “Now all you have to do is give 100% on the field,” she said.
