Dallas, A 50-year-old Indian-origin motel manager was brutally killed in front of his wife and son in Dallas, Texas, following a dispute with a co-worker over a washing machine.
The victim, Chandramouli “Bob” Nagamalaiah, a native of Karnataka, was attacked on Thursday morning at the Suites Motel in downtown Dallas. Police have arrested 37-year-old Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, who has a prior criminal record, and charged him with murder.
According to the Dallas Police Department, the altercation began when Nagamalaiah asked someone else to translate his instructions instead of speaking directly to Cobos-Martinez. This reportedly enraged the suspect.
CCTV footage shows Cobos-Martinez carrying a knife and attacking Nagamalaiah. The victim tried to escape to the motel office, where his wife and 18-year-old son were present, but the suspect chased him and continued the assault despite their attempts to stop him.
Police said investigations are underway, and the accused is currently in custody.
