Tehran: Iran’s defence minister was killed in the latest Israeli strikes targeting key government and military installations in Tehran and other cities, Iranian state media reported on Saturday.
The attacks, carried out as part of Israel’s ongoing military campaign, reportedly hit sensitive defence and intelligence facilities in the Iranian capital. The killing of a senior cabinet member marks a sharp escalation in hostilities between the two countries.
Iranian authorities condemned the strike, calling it a “direct act of aggression,” and vowed strong retaliation. Senior officials said Israel would “pay a heavy price” for targeting top leadership.
Israel has not immediately issued a detailed statement on the reported death but earlier confirmed strikes on strategic military and government sites in Iran.
The development comes amid heightened tensions in the region, raising fears of a wider conflict with potential international ramifications.
