Tehran: Tensions between Iran and Israel escalated sharply on Monday, with reports indicating that Iran fired 15 Fateh-1 missiles targeting Israeli territory. Sirens blared across Israeli cities as residents rushed to bunkers amid fears of further attacks.

An Israeli military spokesperson confirmed that the country’s air force has launched retaliatory airstrikes on Iran’s capital, Tehran. The strikes are said to be focused on the command centre of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), intensifying the confrontation between the two nations.

This marks the 11th day of the ongoing war that began on June 13. Both countries have suffered significant loss of life and property in the conflict so far. However, a major turning point came on Sunday when the United States directly entered the conflict.

According to reports, the US military targeted three nuclear facilities in Iran. US President Donald Trump addressed a press conference following the strikes, congratulating American forces for the operation. “We targeted their nuclear bases. Now Iran should choose the path of peace,” Trump said.

Following the US intervention, Iran responded with a barrage of missiles towards Israel and is now reportedly seeking support from Russia. Iran’s Foreign Minister is scheduled to visit Moscow today to hold discussions amid the growing regional crisis.
