ITI student fights off leopard in Himachal village, kills animal after daring struggle

Solan: A young man displayed remarkable courage after killing a leopard that attacked him in Sarli village under Arki subdivision of Himachal Pradesh on Monday morning.

The incident occurred around 7 am when Parvesh Sharma, a student of ITI Arki, was passing through fields to collect milk. A nearly one-and-a-half-year-old leopard that was hiding nearby suddenly attacked him.

Instead of panicking, the youth confronted the animal and fought with it for nearly 10 to 12 minutes. During the struggle, Parvesh managed to grab the leopard’s jaws and twist its neck, leaving the animal weakened. He eventually struck the leopard on the head and killed it.

Parvesh sustained several claw marks on different parts of his body during the attack but escaped serious injuries.

His uncle, Shyam Lal, said leopard movement had been reported in the area for several days and villagers had already requested the forest department to install a cage to trap the animal.

Forest officer Rajkumar Sharma visited the spot and provided immediate financial assistance of ₹5,000 to the youth.

Officials said wild animals are increasingly entering residential areas due to shrinking forest habitats. The incident has sparked widespread discussion in the village, with teachers from Parvesh’s school and ITI visiting to inquire about his well-being.
