LUDHIANA: A 23-year-old kabaddi player was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Jagraon on Friday.
The victim, identified as Tejpal Singh, a resident of Gidderwindi village, sustained a bullet injury to his chest and was declared dead upon being taken to the hospital.
The incident took place on Hari Singh Road, just a short distance from the SSP office. According to preliminary information, the attackers arrived in a car, rammed Tejpal’s vehicle, and then opened fire in public before fleeing the spot.
A police team from the city police station, including the DSP, reached the scene soon after receiving information and initiated an investigation. Police are examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area to identify the culprits.
