Bathinda: BJP MP from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, Kangana Ranaut, appeared before a Bathinda court on Monday in connection with a defamation case filed by Mohinder Kaur, an elderly woman from Bahadurgarh Jandian village. The trial is being held in Court No. 7 of the Bathinda court complex.
The actress arrived under tight security, accompanied by her panel of lawyers. Police had imposed a strict security cordon inside and outside the court premises in view of her appearance.
Top police officials personally monitored the arrangements, while restrictions were enforced at the court entrance to prevent crowd gatherings.
The Bathinda court had earlier issued strict orders directing Kangana to appear in person after she failed to attend the previous hearing.
Her legal team had requested permission for virtual appearance through video conferencing, but the application was opposed by the complainant’s lawyer, Raghbir Singh Bahiniwal.
