Mumbai: Bollywood actor and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament Kangana Ranaut is scheduled to appear before a court in Bathinda on Thursday.
Ranaut had earlier filed an application seeking exemption from personal appearance in the case. During the previous hearing, counsel for complainant Bibi Mahinder Kaur informed the court that Ranaut’s lawyer had requested relief from personal attendance. However, the court issued clear directions asking the actor-politician to appear in person on January 15.
Meanwhile, Ranaut had also approached the Supreme Court of India seeking to have the matter quashed. The apex court, however, dismissed her plea.
In view of the court’s orders and the rejection of her appeal by the Supreme Court, Ranaut’s personal appearance before the Bathinda court today is now considered certain.
