Karnataka: Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Monday criticised Congress leader Navjot Kaur Sidhu for her recent claim that “the one who gives a suitcase worth Rs 500 crore becomes the chief minister”.
Navjot Kaur Sidhu, wife of former Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu, made the comment during a public interaction, sparking political outrage. Both the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party targeted the Congress, accusing it of institutionalising corruption.
Responding to her remarks, Shivakumar said she should be admitted to a “good mental hospital”, adding that such comments damage the party and create unnecessary controversy.
The statement has intensified political tensions, with opposition parties demanding accountability from the Congress leadership over her allegations.
