Lahore High Court seeks government response on plea alleging visa violations by Indian Sikh pilgrim

Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday issued a notice to the Pakistan government after a preliminary hearing on a fresh constitutional petition filed against Indian Sikh pilgrim Sarabjit Kaur over alleged violations of visa conditions.

LHC counsel Imtiaz Rashid Qureshi confirmed that the petition had been refiled after removal of earlier objections, following which the court listed it for hearing before a single bench. A bench headed by Justice Farooq Haider heard the matter and sought the government’s response within two weeks.

According to the petition, Kaur travelled to locations other than those permitted under her visa and continued to stay in Pakistan even after its expiry.

The petition was filed by former Punjab Assembly member and former Parliamentary Secretary for Human Rights and Minority Affairs Mohinder Pal Singh through Advocate Ali Changezi Sandhu.
