Chandigarh Police Acting Like BJP’s Puppet; Instead of Arresting the Accused For Forgery, They Are Providing Him VIP Security in DGP’s Official Car: Aman Arora*
Chandigarh News: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab President Aman Arora has levelled serious allegations against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Central Government, accusing them of destroying democracy and shielding criminals.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday along with MLAs Fauja Singh Sarari, Rajneesh Dahiya, and senior leader Neel Garg, Arora said that, just like the Chandigarh Mayor elections, the BJP has once again been exposed for attempting to send its own person to the Rajya Sabha using forged signatures of AAP MLAs.
Arora said the matter is extremely serious and alarming. He accused the BJP and the Central Government of continuously trying to undermine democracy, the last example of which had emerged in Chandigarh. Referring to the Chandigarh Mayor elections, he said, “Just as Anil Masih shamelessly cancelled votes and murdered democracy, the BJP has now created an even more dangerous situation for the Rajya Sabha seat.”
Revealing the entire sequence of events, Arora explained that after Sanjeev Arora resigned from the Rajya Sabha, a person named Navneet Chaturvedi filed a nomination for the vacant seat. “Filing a nomination is anyone’s right,” Arora said, “but trying to enter the country’s most sacred institution, the Parliament, through fraud is equivalent to stabbing democracy in the back.”
Displaying documents, Arora said that on October 6, Navneet Chaturvedi submitted a nomination paper listing the names of 10 AAP MLAs as proposers without their signatures. Then on October 13, he filed another nomination paper with 10 new names, which included the forged signatures of AAP MLAs Rajneesh Dahiya and Fauja Singh Sarari, among others.
Arora further stated that when the forgery came to light, AAP MLA from Ropar Dinesh Kumar Chadha, whose signature had also been forged, filed a complaint with the Ropar Police. Subsequently, late on Monday night, a FIR for forgery was registered against the accused. Today, the Rupnagar court issued arrest warrants for Navneet Chaturvedi. However, when the Ropar Police came to Chandigarh with the arrest warrants to apprehend the accused, the Chandigarh Police, which functions under the Central Government, intervened to protect the fraudster, clashed with the Punjab Police, and took the accused away in an official government vehicle.
Arora said that instead of acting against the accused, the Chandigarh Police provided him VIP treatment in a car registered under the name of the DGP, Chandigarh.
Launching a sharp attack on the Central Government and the BJP, Arora said this incident clearly proves that the BJP, the Union Home Ministry, and the Chandigarh Administration are complicit in this entire forgery racket. He appealed to the BJP-led Central Government to refrain from such repeated attacks on democracy and to allow democratic values and institutions to survive.
Arora also demanded that the Chandigarh Administration immediately hand over the accused to the Ropar Police so that the law can take its due course of action.
