London: A minor Sikh girl was rescued in London following swift action by members of the Sikh community after she was allegedly abducted by a grooming gang.
According to community representatives, the group had targeted the girl with the intent of sexual exploitation and forced religious conversion.
Community leaders said the timely coordination and unity shown by Sikh organisations and local volunteers played a critical role in locating and rescuing the girl. They worked closely with the police, which helped disrupt the alleged gang’s activities and prevent further harm.
Sikh leaders have expressed concern over what they describe as a rise in cases where Sikh girls are being targeted by grooming networks. They emphasised that increased vigilance, community awareness and rapid collective action were key to ensuring the girl’s safety in this case.
The incident has triggered anxiety among Sikhs living in the UK, with families becoming more cautious about the safety of their children. Police have confirmed that a major operation is underway to identify and apprehend those involved, and investigations into the matter are ongoing.
