Made History! Punjab’s AAP Government Completes ₹20,000 Per Acre Farmer Compensation in a Record-Smashing 30 Days

Punjab E News:  When the floods wreaked havoc in Punjab, destroying millions of acres of land and crops, the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab was the first to stand with the farmers and the common people. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann not only immediately ordered the special assessment (Girdawari) but also proved by distributing compensation ahead of schedule that the government doesn’t just talk, it delivers results.

The special Girdawari was announced on September 11 with a target to complete it in 45 days, but the government started the compensation distribution on the 30th day, even earlier than planned. In Punjab, crop damage occurred in 2,508 villages, devastating nearly 3.5 lakh acres of cultivable land, but the State Government, without delay, began providing farmers with a compensation of ₹20,000 per acre. This marks the largest and fastest relief operation to date.

Despite appeals for assistance from the Central Government yielding no response, the Punjab Government provided an additional compensation of ₹13,200 from its own resources, clearly demonstrating that the Punjab Government would not leave its farmers dependent on anyone else. The compensation amount is being transferred directly to the farmers’ bank accounts, eliminating any scope for middlemen or delays.

The survey of damaged houses was also expedited. A survey of 30,806 houses has been completed, and the compensation for partially damaged houses has been increased from ₹6,500 to ₹40,000. Families who lost loved ones in the flood were provided with an assistance of ₹4 lakh. Compensation for the loss of livestock and poultry has also been fixed to ensure no family is left alone in crisis.

For the first time, the entire process of assessment and compensation distribution has been carried out through a transparent online portal. In 52 villages of the Ajnala area alone, more than ₹ 5 crore in compensation has been directly disbursed to farmers and affected families. The government has mobilized ground-level teams to ensure relief reaches every village, every farmer, and every family.

Work is rapidly progressing to make the flood-affected land cultivable again under the ‘Jiska Khet, Uski Ret’ policy. Under Mission ‘Chardikala’ , the Punjab Government has resolved to rebuild the flood-affected villages. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has made it clear that the farmer of Punjab will never be alone; the government stands with them every step of the way.

While the opposition remained entangled in flood politics, the Aam Aadmi Party government prioritized relief and rehabilitation. By distributing compensation before Diwali, the government instilled a sense of confidence in the farmers and showed that when it comes to Punjab and ‘Punjabiyat’ , this government not only makes promises but keeps them. This is the spirit that makes Punjab strong: standing united in crisis and supporting its people.
