Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday said that 139 saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib recovered from Nawanshahr district had no official record, calling it a serious lapse.
Speaking at the Maghi conference in Sri Muktsar Sahib, the Chief Minister said a total of 169 saroops were found at a religious place in the Banga area of Nawanshahr, but records were available for only 30 of them.
Mann said crucial information emerged during the questioning of former employees of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee by a Special Investigation Team (SIT). He added that the remaining missing saroops would also be traced soon, noting that the SIT had already located some of them a day earlier.
The Chief Minister’s remarks came a day ahead of his scheduled appearance before Akal Takht Sahib.
