Ludhiana: A man was critically injured after unidentified assailants opened fire near Sherpur Chowk in Ludhiana on Monday evening, police said.
The incident took place in Fauji Colony area where armed miscreants allegedly started firing suddenly, triggering panic among residents. During the firing, one person sustained bullet injuries and collapsed on the spot.
The attackers fled the scene immediately after the incident.
The injured man was rushed to a nearby private hospital in a critical condition. Doctors said his condition remains serious.
Police teams reached the spot soon after receiving information and cordoned off the area. Forensic experts have been called in and evidence is being collected from the crime scene. Further investigation is underway to identify and trace the accused.
