CHANDIGARH: Rhea Badal, daughter of former Punjab Finance Minister and BJP leader Manpreet Singh Badal, has been engaged to RK Martand Singh, a member of the erstwhile royal family of Jammu.
The engagement was announced by Vikramaditya Singh, son of senior Congress leader Dr Karan Singh, through a social media post. Congratulating the couple, Vikramaditya Singh said the family was “very happy by the grace of Mata Rani” and shared the news of his son’s engagement to Rhea Badal.
He said RK Martand Singh is the fourth generation of Maharaja Hari Singh, the last ruler of the erstwhile princely state of Jammu and Kashmir. “Our son RK Martand Singh is engaged to Rhea Badal, daughter of Sardar and Sardarni Manpreet Singh Badal. We wish both of them lots of love and a bright future,” he wrote.
Dr Karan Singh’s family has played a significant role in the history of Jammu and Kashmir. He is the son of Maharaja Hari Singh, who was instrumental in the accession of the state to India in 1947. Dr Karan Singh later served as Sadr-e-Riyasat, Governor, Union Minister and Ambassador following the merger of the state with India. He is also known as a noted writer and scholar.
