Chandigarh: Unidentified masked men opened fire outside the house of social activist and YouTuber Sam Hussainpuri in Model Town area of Hussainpur, Hoshiarpur, late last night, police said.
Around 12:45 am, two youths arrived on a motorcycle and fired two rounds at the gate before fleeing the scene. The entire incident was captured on a nearby CCTV camera, showing the suspects escaping after the attack.
According to reports, Sam Hussainpuri had earlier received threats from Pakistani don Shahzad Bhatti, who warned that his house would be attacked with grenades similar to an incident in Jalandhar. Following the threat, Hussainpur police assigned him two gunmen for security.
Sam Hussainpuri alleged that one of the assigned gunmen has a leg injury and is unable to perform his duties effectively. He has appealed to the Punjab government and police to provide him with fit and trained security personnel to prevent any untoward incidents.
