“My husband and I will ‘always stand with Congress’ despite suspension,” says Navjot Kaur Sidhu

Chandigarh: Former minister Navjot Kaur Sidhu on Wednesday said that she and her husband Navjot Singh Sidhu will “always stand with the party”, even as controversy continues over her recent remark alleging that “Rs 500 crore” was offered for the chief minister’s chair.

Kaur, who was suspended from the primary membership of the Punjab Congress earlier this week, posted a series of statements on X defending her loyalty to the party. She accused Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring of “ruining” the organisation and alienating senior leaders.

“We are and will always be with the Congress and will win our state of Punjab and dedicate it to our humble, loving and sacrificial Gandhi family,” she wrote.

Kaur also claimed that Warring is “in touch with 70 competent, honest and loyal leaders” who she said have been sidelined by the state leadership. She alleged that the party could win with these leaders as candidates, but added that “all your focus is on wiping out 70 per cent of our seats, where you have already given dummy tickets to ineffective people”.

Kaur’s posts come at a time of escalating infighting within the Punjab Congress, following her suspension after publicly alleging corruption within the party’s leadership.
