CHANDIGARH: Former Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu will meet Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on December 19 after seeking time from the party leadership. Sidhu travelled to Delhi on Tuesday and again on Wednesday, but he could not meet any senior leader due to the ongoing Parliament session.
Sources said Sidhu wants to present his position before the high command takes any further action.
Meanwhile, the Congress high command has constituted a high-level inquiry committee to examine Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu’s controversial remark involving an alleged Rs 500 crore deal related to the chief minister. The committee will be headed by Punjab in-charge Bhupesh Baghel, while the names of other members are yet to be announced.
The high command has taken a firm view of Kaur’s statements and has sought a detailed report from Baghel. Party leaders in Delhi are said to be concerned about internal discord at a time when preparations for the 2027 Punjab assembly elections are expected to intensify.
