Chennai: Nine workers were killed and one injured when an under-construction roof collapsed at a thermal plant in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Tuesday evening.
According to reports, a high-rise iron structure was being built at the site when part of it collapsed on the workers, leading to the fatalities.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh each for the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured.
