Nitin Gadkari rejects allegations over ethanol blending, blames import lobby

New Delhi: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Monday dismissed allegations against him regarding petrol and ethanol blending, saying they were part of a campaign by a powerful import lobby upset with his decisions.

Speaking at an event, Gadkari likened himself to a “fruit-bearing tree,” saying, “I don’t respond to such criticisms because then it becomes news. The tree that people stone is the one that bears fruit. It’s better that we don’t.”

The minister said his primary objective is to promote ethanol blending, reduce pollution, and turn farmers into energy producers.
