New Delhi: Ashanya Dwivedi, wife of Pahalgam terror attack victim Shubham Dwivedi, has urged people to boycott the upcoming Asia Cup T20 match between India and Pakistan on Sunday.
She appealed to the public not to attend the match or watch it on television. “I urge people to boycott it. Neither go to watch it nor turn on the TV to watch it,” she said.
Criticising the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), she alleged that the board was insensitive to the families of the 26 people killed in the Pahalgam terror attack. She further claimed that apart from two or three cricketers, no player demanded a boycott of the match.
“Cricketers should take a stand for their country,” she said, also questioning the role of sponsors and broadcasters in supporting the fixture.
Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray has also opposed the staging of the match.
