Lahore: Pakistan’s passport remains the “least powerful” globally, offering visa-free access to only 32 destinations, Dawn reported, citing the Henley Passport Index 2025. The country’s passport is ranked 96th, just above conflict-hit nations such as Somalia, Yemen, Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan.

The report noted a slight improvement in Pakistan’s ranking compared to 2024, when it was the fourth worst globally alongside Yemen for four consecutive years.

The Henley Passport Index assesses 199 passports across 227 travel destinations, ranking them based on visa-free or visa-on-arrival access.

Singapore tops the 2025 index, while Japan and South Korea share the second spot. Seven EU nations, including Germany, France and Italy, occupy the third position, while the UK and the US have slipped to sixth and tenth place respectively from their earlier top positions in 2015 and 2014.

India recorded the highest improvement in rankings over the last six months, climbing from 85th to 77th place, the report added.
