Pakistan pulls out of FIH Junior Hockey World Cup in India

Islamabad: Pakistan has decided to withdraw from the FIH Junior Hockey World Cup scheduled to be held in Chennai and Madurai from November 28 to December 10, 2025. The International Hockey Federation (FIH) confirmed that the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has refused to send its team to India.

“The Pakistan Hockey Federation has informed the International Hockey Federation (FIH) that their team will not participate in the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup to be held in Tamil Nadu, India, for which Pakistan had qualified,” the FIH said in a statement. “The squad for Pakistan’s replacement for the tournament will be announced soon,” it added.

Sporting relations between India and Pakistan have been tense following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam and the subsequent Indian military operation, codenamed Operation Sindhur.

Recently, the Indian government announced a new policy stating that the country will not engage in bilateral sports events with Pakistan, although participation will continue in multinational tournaments.
