New Delhi: The Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha were adjourned twice on Wednesday as opposition parties demanded a discussion on the special comprehensive revision of electoral rolls, the Pahalgam terror attack, and other issues on the third day of the monsoon session.
The opposition MPs raised slogans and held placards, forcing adjournments till 12 noon and later till 2 pm in both Houses. The Zero Hour could not be taken up in the Rajya Sabha, while Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Deputy Chairman Harivansh in the Rajya Sabha repeatedly appealed to the members to maintain calm, but the ruckus continued.
The monsoon session has witnessed frequent disruptions amid a tussle between the ruling and opposition parties.
Meanwhile, Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya introduced the National Sports Administration Bill in the Lok Sabha amid the uproar. The bill aims to bring greater transparency and accountability in the functioning of national sports bodies, including the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
The proposed legislation seeks to establish national sports governing bodies such as the National Olympic Committee, National Paralympic Committee, National Sports Federation, and Regional Sports Federations for recognised sports. It also focuses on promoting ethical practices, welfare measures for sportspersons, and ensuring good governance and fair play in sports administration.
