Phillaur SHO faces fresh allegations of harassment; Punjab Women’s Commission seeks CCTV footage

JALANDHAR: SHO Bhushan Kumar of Phillaur police station in Punjab has once again landed in controversy after two more women accused him of harassment. The officer was earlier suspended for allegedly calling a rape victim’s mother alone to the police station.

The new complainants have submitted audio recordings of their conversations with the SHO to the Punjab Women’s Commission. One of the victims alleged that the officer made obscene remarks during phone calls, while the other said he hugged her in public despite her family informing him that she was abroad. “The SHO said on the phone, ‘Why are you teasing me? Come quickly,’” the victim claimed.

Following the alleged incident, the women approached the Lok Insaaf Manch and later met Punjab Women’s Commission chairperson Raj Lali Gill on Monday, seeking justice.

Gill confirmed receiving the complaints and recordings, describing the language used in them as “very crude.” She said, “Exploitation of women under the guise of uniform will not be tolerated. We have sought CCTV footage of the police station and will ensure strict action.”
